Meditating on the flow

Last week my capable husband undertook a grim job:  cleaning the koi pond.  It has been over two years since we have done this ritual and time has done its work on our small pond.  We have six fish: four koi (the Marx brothers: Groucho, Harpo, Chico and Gumbo) and two all white goldfish that are about six inches long. The angels are shy and hide a lot in the caves Ron has fashioned to keep the fish children safe when predators come a calling at our sushi bar.  Over the six years we've had the pond and fish we've lost three to a hungry heron and a clever raccoon.  With this pond clean out Ron installed a device called a "scarecrow" which is a motion detector over the pond.  When something comes in its way the device squirts streams of water at whoever is in or over the pond.  It squirts adults, too.

This morning the sun was high and we took our breakfast by the pond on our deck.  I took this short video of the koi children to remember just how peaceful they seemed today.  The water is clear,  the waterfalls are singing and all is right with the world.  I invite you to sit for the fourteen seconds of this video and enjoy the beauty of the flow.
